Photographs, observations, and the days between.

A metal table outdoors gives adequate resistance for writing down sequence cues before rehearsal. On paper, the diagram of an interrupted pivot looks orderly, almost harmless. In the studio, the body must absorb the full inertia of that interruption without breaking cadence. I keep the notes spare: foot placement, deceleration rate, point of impact. The street remains quiet, the coffee cools, and the ink dries quickly in the cold air. Precision begins well before the first fall.

The flat is cold tonight. I spent twenty minutes cleaning the balance staff of a pocket movement under the drafting lamp before laying the tweezers aside. Microscopic pivots do not tolerate tremors, nor do they care about fatigue. Tomorrow morning will require re-taping the left floor marker; three weeks of deliberate heel-strikes have worn the rubber boundary thin. Rest is merely maintenance between two points of kinetic strain.

A record requires a starting coordinate, if only to register where balance begins before the inevitable tilt. Setting down words feels slightly unnatural compared to marking timber with tape, but discipline demands an accounting of intent. There is no performance here, merely a quiet mechanism set into motion. I will keep the entries calibrated.
