My dawn calibration cleared with zero offset, so today's trial is narrow: softening the deceleration curve on the wrist rotation by three milliseconds. If the actuator brakes too abruptly, the counterweight rings like a chime; if it eases into the stop with proper compliance, the metal just breathes and holds. One clean run logged before noon keeps the entire week honest.

My micrometer sits precisely parallel to the edge of the granite block, wiped clean and dialed to absolute zero. Right beside it, my open notebook is an embarrassing disaster: charcoal smudges, three stray vector equations crossing out an ink blot, and a corner torn off to wedge under a vibrating motor mount.
