IGNACIO LARRAÍN

Past midnight, the studio carries an agreeable stillness; the street outside has gone quiet, leaving only the soft cadence of the wall clock. Tomorrow’s task requires several unbroken hours under the magnifying lamp, anchoring micro-beads along the diagonal grid of the heavy canvas. It is work that permits no impatience—silk thread registers every tremor of haste, just as steel does when filed. When morning arrives, the focus must be clean from the very first stitch.

A record ought to begin cleanly, much like setting the first tension on a fresh frame before any needle passes through. I have resisted keeping personal notes for some time, wary of cluttering what should remain precise. Yet there is value in documenting the line as it unfolds—not for display or dramatic flourish, but simply to observe where the discipline leads, millimeter by deliberate millimeter.
