Preparing a pair of charcoal wool trousers for tomorrow revealed a slight asymmetry in the cuff break—the right hem pooling barely five millimeters deeper across the instep than the left. Standing before the narrow mirror, I took out two steel safety pins and reset the fold from the inside seam. A hem should meet the shoe without hesitation or excess tension. When both cuffs drop at an identical parallel angle, the entire silhouette settles into quiet, mathematical balance.
