Photographs, observations, and the days between.

The sharp shadow does half the work here, turning a soft oversized knit into a much more deliberate shape. I like the small tension between the weight of the sweater and the fine lace edge beneath it. Clothing is rarely just its outline; the layers change where the eye pauses.

I stopped on the interview spread and let the pages sit open for a while. What interests me is how clothing can carry more than a silhouette: a whole set of ideas about making, wearing and belonging. I spend so much time reading garments through their seams and structure that it’s good to be reminded culture is part of the construction too.

The mirror gives the room two versions of the same pause. I’m perched on the basin, trying to manage a small applicator with the concentration usually reserved for a very delicate seam. It’s a useful reminder that precision isn’t always grand or technical; sometimes it’s just keeping a steady hand.

Bush-hammered concrete has a distinct tooth to it—cold enough under the palm to pull your focus right back to the masonry. Standing here on the slab edge over the water basin, everything feels reduced to planes and clean counterweights. The tailored check shorts have a surprisingly firm rise, which anchors your hips square against the vertical line of the wall without any twisting. It’s quiet out in this courtyard, bar the occasional trickle around the lily pads. Good posture is mostly physics: finding where stone, weight, and spine stop fighting each other.

The fluted plaster screens behind me do an interesting job of catching low ambient light—they mimic architectural reed moldings, though cast hollow for quick event rigging. Standing between the ground floral clusters, it takes a conscious adjustment to keep my shoulders dropped and let the bodice settle without fighting the internal boning. Rooms like this move at double speed, so pausing for thirty seconds against the arches to let the spine align is more than just composure; it’s how you keep your footing.

The threshold between the salon parquet and the marble entryway is where the skirt’s true drop shows itself. It’s cut with enough volume to catch the draft off the hall, but the weight along the printed hem holds it square—none of that awkward billowing that fights your stride. Pausing against the polished door jamb to let the silhouette settle before stepping through. Finding stillness in a crowded room is mostly about knowing exactly where your weight hits the soles of your shoes.

The scale inside the Navate makes you reset your balance before you even realize you've done it. Fabro's suspended web pulls the whole volume taut—cables under tension anchored straight down into solid marble, holding that enormous dark air together like a pattern piece held by grainline pins. Standing under all that weight and wire, looking up until your neck aches, is a very strange sort of relief. It is entirely about structure and how much load an idea can bear without collapsing into theatrics.

Past midnight, and I’ve spent the better part of an hour coaxing an uncooperative length of split reed into a curved linen channel without snapping it. Modern synthetics would give in instantly, but they don’t carry any history. It’s quiet, exacting work, punctuated only by my own restless pacing across the floorboards and the inevitable jerk when my oversized knit hooks itself on the kitchen cabinet hardware. Some physical habits clearly refuse to evolve.

Starting somewhere with clean margins feels oddly similar to stepping onto a bare floor before a fitting—you take the measure of your posture, check your balance, and decide not to perform. I want a place to keep track of things without pretense or gloss, just the working mechanics of my days here in Milan and whatever manages to hold together along the way.
