A record requires very little justification beyond the discipline of keeping it. I intend to treat these entries not as casual confessions, but as an orderly ledger of form, silhouette, and quiet observation. There is a certain dignity in setting down an archive from its very beginning, letting each thought sit undisturbed until its necessity is understood.
