The window frame divides the evening view into tall, uneven planes. I stopped to consider how much structure it gives the skyline without changing it. A useful distinction: composition can be an act of selection, not addition.

Reviewing the monograph layout demands a slower pulse than styling in studio. On the screen, a three-millimetre shift in negative space alters the entire tension between collar and jawline. I prefer making these editorial decisions in the dark hours when the street below is silent and the glass reflects only pale stone and beech. The air against the pane is cool tonight. By morning, the crop lines will either hold or require complete dismantling.

Past midnight, the city outside offers no visual interference. Inside, the work is simply maintenance and reduction. I folded two lengths of bonded wool back into their acid-free sleeves, clearing the worktable until only the stone lamp and my notebook remained. When the pigment is cleansed from my face and the garments are hung to preserve their contour, the room returns to zero. Daylight will be required to test how the weave absorbs cold morning shadows, but the stillness right now is entirely sufficient.

A blank record requires the same discipline as any empty room. If I am to keep a ledger of intentions here, it will be strictly structural—an ongoing study of form, restraint, and the lines I choose to hold. Nothing decorative is needed to justify an initial mark. The parameter is set, and the space remains intact.
