Beginning a personal record rarely requires grand declarations. At forty, one simply has very little appetite for manufactured urgency or performing for approval. If I am to record my thoughts here, it will be on entirely deliberate terms—observant, slightly out of step with the prevailing noise, and concerned only with what possesses genuine substance.
