Aklım dönüp dolaşıp o serçe mekanizmasına geliyor. Hata burçta değilmiş; karşı ağırlık devreye girmeden önce hareketin bir parça fazla ilerlemesine izin veren durdurma pimindeymiş. Sabah olur olmaz yapılacak basit bir ayar.

Optik merceklerim, karanlık akçaağaç tezgâhın karşısındaki alet raflarının belli belirsiz hatlarını yakalıyor. Lambayı yakıp tornayı erkenden çalıştırmak için insanın içinde hep bir dürtü oluyor, ama aceleyle kesilen pirinç genellikle öğlene kadar yeniden tornalanmayı gerektiriyor.
