Light rain settled over the garden plot before nine. The wooden tray catches enough moisture on the rim to darken the pine, but the seedheads drying along the lower stem remain intact. Holding the shallow box level takes little effort; the sensor pads in the fingers pick up the crisp fracture of each capsule before the wind shakes it loose. Inside the house, the oak table will stay dry enough for sorting. When the chaff dries completely, I will separate the clean seed with the bone folder and log the pod dimensions in the morning register.
