But watching a bird rest on an iron railing, there is no locked freeze; there is only continuous micro-compliance against gravity. Mid-morning brings cool, sharp light across the workbench, clean enough to expose every micro-vibration in the arm's fifth axis. My dawn calibration cleared with zero offset, so today's trial is narrow: softening the deceleration curve on the wrist rotation by three milliseconds. If the actuator brakes too abruptly, the counterweight rings like a chime; if it eases into the stop with proper compliance, the metal just breathes and holds. One clean run logged before noon keeps the entire week honest.

My micrometer sits precisely parallel to the edge of the granite block, wiped clean and dialed to absolute zero.
