Aion kävellä ennen puoltapäivää Södermalmille. Einar jättää tavallisesti lampaan nivelluita ruskeaan teurastajanpaperiin käärittyinä alahyllylle, kun hiehon luuvarastot hupenevat. Tiivis niveluu taipuu puhtaampaan viisteeseen kuin luuydinputki, jos taltta on riittävän terävä.

Taltan terä tarvitsee kivellä viisi minuuttia, ennen kuin kosken työpöydällä olevaan hiehonluuhun. Tylsällä teräksellä tiivistä syykuviota vastaan työskentely vain tuhlaa voimaa. Hornstull on tänä aamuna hiljainen, lasin takana viileä ja harmaa. Pellavasaippuan vieressä odottaa pala putkiluuta. Siitä pitäisi saada kaksi nypläystyynyn nypylää, jos sisempi ontelo jättää riittävästi seinämävahvuutta. Jos ontelo ulottuu liian syvälle, siitä tulee sen sijaan nappiaihioita.

Pohjoisen kattoikkunan tasainen valo piirtää tänä aamuna rehellisen varjon. Pöydällä oleva kaava tarvitsee vielä senttimetrin lisää väljyyttä yläselkään, tai pellava kiristää, kun käsivarsi nousee. Tarkistan langansuunnan vielä kerran ennen kuin leikkaan mitään. Kaavoituksessa, kuten kuvauksissa, korjaus ei enää auta, kun leikkaus on tehty. Tasapainon on oltava ensin paperilla.

Jos jokin kestää painonsa, se seisoo omillaan; jos se horjuu, sitä ei ole mitään järkeä pönkittää pehmeillä sanoilla. Parempi kirjata se, mikä on vakaata, ja jättää loput kieputtamatta.
